Let’s All Agree… Water is Precious
Imagine a world without water – it’s practically impossible to do!
It covers 70% of the Earth’s surface. It is the only substance on our planet that occurs naturally as a liquid, a solid, and a gas. All life as we know is directly dependent on water.
And yet… many of us take it for granted. What a gift this water is!
“Water is the driving force in nature.” -Leonardo da Vinci
1) Water simply improves your mood!
It has been scientifically proven that drinking more water simply makes you feel better. You don’t even have to be thirsty to drink it… it’s refreshing and cool. Need we say more?
2) Drinking it helps balance your body’s fluids!
Just to name a few, you can boost your digestion, circulation, creation of saliva, transportation of nutrients, joint lubrication, absorption, and the immune system!
3) Drinking clean and pure water makes you smarter!
Ok well… we can’t prove that it makes you smarter, but it definitely boosts brain activity. Dehydration shrinks brain tissue, so when you’re thirsty – you’re making your brain work harder! Studies have even shown that students who carry water bottles get higher grades.
4) Immersing yourself in it is refreshing and fun!
Numerous studies have shown that people who swim in cold water or soak in hot baths are healthier, happier, and more fit. Water exercises are even used in physical therapy!
5) We all love the sound of water…
Have you ever gone to bed while it’s raining outside? Sat for hours on end listening to the waves crashing on a beach? Smiled at the sound of a bubbling creek? Water is therapeutic.
6) Drinking water keeps our skin and hair healthy!
Our skin functions as a barrier to prevent fluid loss. Dermatologist Kenneth Ellner, MD, says: “Dehydration makes your skin look more dry and wrinkled, which can be improved with proper hydration.” Go fill up your glass or bottle!
7) It eliminates fatigue and energizes the body!
Driving late at night? Exhausted after a long trip? Just grab a bottle of water and treat your body right! When you’re dehydrated, your blood circulation decreases, making your heart work harder. It slows us down. Drinking water increases the efficiency of the body!
8) Water naturally pulls toxins out of our body!
Drinking more water helps eliminate nasty toxins from our system, while also promoting kidney and and liver functions. We’re not saying it’ll save your life – but it won’t hurt to try!
9) Water gives life to all the plants and animals of the Earth.
Yup, we weren’t going to forget this one. Water makes life on Earth possible!
10) Water heals us.
Whether through a cold ice pack, a steam bath, or a just a glass of pure water… water is medicine.
Let’s all remind each other to be grateful for the gift of water, and share its goodness with all.
How much water have YOU drank today?
